Julie Parker

Senior Associate Occupational Therapist

Julie is a Senior Associate Occupational Therapist working in the Compensation department, providing occupational therapy and pathway advice to clients following discharge from NHS care.

Expertise

Julie is a HCPC registered Occupational Therapist working within the Compensation team. She has over 27 years of experience in rehabilitation both in community and inpatient settings.

Julie works with a wide range of clients with neurological conditions including Traumatic Brain Injuries, strokes, Multiple Sclerosis, Encephalitis and Functional Neurological Disorders. The focus of her practice is to place the client in the centre of their care, treatment, goal setting and intervention.

Julie supports clients through significant changes in their rehabilitation and promotes for independence where possible helping them get back into home and work environments and enabling them to achieve their maximum potential.

Julie has also been support clients that have other life changes injuries such as amputation.

Not only helping those in need of rehabilitation, Julie also provides support, advice and a specialist level of understanding to the families and carers of those who have experienced a neurological, emotional or physical injury. This includes assist with benefits applications and reviews.

Experience

  • Provides training sessions on neurological rehabilitation and is keen to ensure that people have a good understanding of assessments, rehabilitation intervention and optimising rehabilitation potential.
  • Chair of North Yorkshire and Humber Headway Partnership
  • Committee Member of the Humber and North Yorkshire ABI (HYNABI) Network and facilitates regular network meeting and annual CPD Day.
  • Completed presentations at CPD Day, Limbless Association Conference and Vulnerable Adults Nursing Teams

Qualifications

  • BHSc In Occupational Therapy
  • Trained in SMART for PDOC Patients
  • Completed AMPS Training
  • Theology Certificate and License Reader in Diocese of Lincoln
