Legal action considered over mother's missed hernia

09 October 2009

The Hull Daily Mail newspaper has reported the case of a missed hernia leading to a patient's death. The Coroner's verdict concluded that the death could have been avoided if the hernia had been detected and treated.

The family have taken legal advice and issued a short statement.

"The trust's investigation will obviously concentrate on the hospital's procedures and actions, but that won't record the effect on our family - we are still trying to get to grips with that."

"Both our families have been caring and supportive but we need professional advice and guidance on what the future holds for a mother-less young family."

"We want to know what problems are likely to arise and how we should tackle them."
